Mapping of BuildLanguage file properties to ant properties

I've just seen that if I add a property in a BuildLanguage project file with the type file, in the resulting ant file there will be a property with a value. Is there any reason why these properties are not mapped to ant properties with a location?

For me location properties are more convenient, especially if you use paths with '../' segments, because they will be handled as absolute paths. Or is there any way to configure this behavior?
